FAQ

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SCHEDULE MY NEWBORN SESSION?

If you are pregnant now and you are planning on having newborn portraits taken, please contact us before the baby is here and let us know your due date in advance. We have limited availability and strongly urge you to reserve in advance, so that we make you our priority and guarantee a spot for you. We will hold a date in the week following your due date and adjust accordingly as soon as the baby arrives.  If your baby has already arrived,  please contact us for availability.

HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION WITHOUT KNOWING MY SESSION DATE?
This is the easy part! We will schedule you for your due date. Again that guarantees a placement for that month. Once your baby has made his/her debut, and you both have been successfully discharged, please contact me right away. A definite session date and time will be scheduled 3-5 days following your release.

Newborn sessions are scheduled Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with a 10am appointment.
HOW SOON SHOULD I HAVE MY NEWBORN SESSION AFTER BIRTH?
Scheduling the session the earlier the better. I always try to schedule your session for Day 7-8 of baby’s life. Newborns much younger tend to do very well in the studio, oppose to a baby that is past 14 days old. They tend not to wake up as frequently and as easily, when getting them posed for the scene. A mere 48 hours in a newborns life is very crucial when prepping them for their session. I have witnessed many, many times after the 10 day mark, newborns have discovered the art of stretching! Once that happens…they won’t let us curl them up in the cute little newborn poses, without a fight! 🙂

CAN I INCORPORATE SIBLING AND FAMILY PHOTOS WITH MY BABY?
You most certainly can! We actually encourage our clients to at least get a few portraits with their new addition to the family.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY NEWBORN SESSION?
Newborn sessions are typically 3 hours long. Because of the delicacy of handling a newborn when prepping and positioning them for a scene, I’d rather take my time producing 20-25 outstanding photographs than 50 okay ones where baby doesn’t look comfortable at all. Not to mention the repeated, feedings, diaper changes and cuddles needed to put baby asleep before placing in a prop. Babies cannot be awake during the session when positioning them in a prop. It poses a BIG safety concern and safety is my very top, and number one priority.

WHAT IF I DIDN’T PLAN AHEAD?

No worries! I do take last minute bookings, so if you have just had your baby please feel free to contact me and I will try to fit you in the schedule!

MY BABY IS ALREADY BORN, AM I TOO LATE TO SCHEDULE A “NEWBORN” SESSION?
While I generally require sessions to be booked months in advance and within the first 14 days after birth, I do however have openings from time to time. I’d be happy to photograph your baby as long as you are aware and understand some photographs may not be achieved that work well with younger newborns.

WHAT IS THE TURN AROUND ON MY IMAGES?
Turn around for any studio session is 2 weeks from your session date.

WHERE DOES THE SESSION TAKE PLACE?
Sessions take place in my home studio in Belmont CA. It’s a custom designed private studio which holds everything needed for your bundle of joy! You’re not required to bring anything, unless you have something you have personally bought or a family heirloom that you would like to incorporate. The studio is stocked with all the necessary props, headbands, hats and outfits needed.
